Why have a rewire?
Safety
Old or poorly installed wiring can pose a fire risk or result in an electric shock
If your property is still wired or part wired in black rubber cables (Vulcanised Rubber Insulated Cables) then it is more than likely your property is well overdue for an electrical rewire. The fire risk here is very real.
Many UK electrical installations have been installed without an earth connection or bonding - creating a risk of electric shock. A rewire to the latest BS7671 standards will give you peace of mind.
The best way to determine the condition of an electrical installation is to use a qualified electrician to carry out an EICR (Electrical Installation Condition Report). This report will show show you exactly what you're dealing with. Our EICR prices start from £120.00 + VAT and are carried out by one of our highly qualified and competent electricians.
Obvious signs that your house may need rewiring:
– Frequent tripping of the consumer unit
– Flickering lights
– Burning marks near sockets
– Outdated fuse box
– Cracking or buzzing sounds
Modernisation
If you’re renovating your home, the best place to start is with the wiring
From conveniently placed sockets to centred ambient lighting, your electrics play a key part in the functionality and impression of your home.
Hanging pendants over stairs, dining tables and kitchen islands is more popular than ever for their aesthetic as well as downlights for functionality in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and living rooms.
USB sockets placed beside your sofa or above the kitchen work top add convenience and an electrical supply for your new multifunction oven is essential to perfecting your Sunday roast.
If you plan on having your sockets and switches recessed into the wall, channels will need to be chased in to the plaster work and floorboards will have to be lifted. Carrying this out first is a must, before moving on to finished painted walls and new carpet or laminate flooring.

What does a rewire involve?
A rewire is the installation of new cabling to all of the new points within a property. This includes plug sockets, lighting, cooking appliances, boilers, smoke detection, EV chargers and more.
Cables are wired from the consumer unit (also referred to as fuseboard) to each of these points through ceiling and floor space.
Carpets and floorboards are lifted, holes drilled through the joist and cables sent through. The loft space is also utilised for lighting.
If your sockets are being recessed, chases will be made in to the plaster work to allow the cables to be clipped down the wall and into the sockets. If they're being surface mounted then the cables will be installed inside a mini-trunking on the wall.
A new consumer unit is installed and the new electrical layout is complete. Just the testing and certification to complete
It can seem a bit messy and chaotic when looking in but our team specialises in leaving the property clean and tidy once we're finished
